Mr. Amiro spent 64 years of his life in a wheelchair and owned a small store for fifty years, until he stopped due to a heart attack twelve years ago. Fred was a well known hard working auto mechanic and had owned and operated Fred?¢s Auto Service in Digby for many years. He was an avid photographer and enjoyed fishing especially in his retirement with his grandchildren. Fred was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Gloria J. (Smith), Digby; son, Kenneth (Julie), Lantz; daughters, Karen Comeau, Eastern Passage; Kimberly Speichts, Digby; daughter-in-law, Barb Speichts, Hammonds Plains; grandchildren, Alan Comeau, Kyle Marshall, Jenna Speichts, Danielle Comeau, Marcus Speichts, Connor Speichts and Anthony Marshall; brother, Douglas (Lisa) Mt. NOVEMBER 7, 2017 Leger, Sister Therese Frances The Franciscans of Halifax and the family of Sister Therese of the Divine Silence (Mary Joan Leger) announce her death which took place on November 7, following a courageous battle with cancer in her 81st year and the 61st year of her religious profession. She was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, February 7, 1937, a daughter of the late Leo J. and Lillian T. (Quinn) Leger. Wooed by God as a child, Sister Therese spent the remainder of her life consciously in the presence of the Blessed Trinity. She was educated in St. John the Baptist School, St. Vincent?s Girls High School, and graduated from the Provincial Teachers? College, Fredericton, in 1956. She taught for one year at Garnett?s Settlement, St. John County and then, having reached the mandatory age, she answered the call which she had intuited from early childhood, entering the Sisters of St. Martha, Antigonish, Nova Scotia, August 15, 1957. Sister taught at East Bay, Eskasoni, Guysborough and St. Andrews, all in the Diocese of Antigonish. She professed perpetual vows on August 15, 1962. After a period of research and discernment with contemplative communities in the United States which started in 1970, Sr. Therese sought a dispensation from her vows with the Sisters of St. Martha and began to live a radically simple contemplative life under the authority of Bishop William Power of Antigonish and his delegate Father Angus Daniel MacDonald. On June 16, 1986 Sr. Therese received the Consecration of Virgins. For nearly thirty years she lived in vows as a hermit. Eventually, after the death of Father MacDonald, and the approach of old age, Providence introduced the hermits of McAdam?s Lake to Father Roberto Donato and the community of the Franciscans of Halifax. In December 2007, Sister Therese and her Sister in the Lord, Phyllis Rooney relocated to Musquodoboit Harbour and with Sister Patricia Douglas, embraced a new contemplative life. She made perpetual vows as a member of the Contemplative Branch of the Franciscans of Halifax on May 22, 2010. Sister Therese was predeceased by her mother and father; her step-mother, Margaret (Campbell) Leger; her sister and foster mother, Frances Murphy; her brothers Edmund ?Ned?, Joseph (in utero), and Joseph Leo (at birth); by two nephews, brothers-in-law, Ronald Williams and Douglas Murphy, as well as by her brother and sister-in-the Lord: Father Angus ?Donnie? MacDonald and Sister Phyllis Rooney. She is survived by her sisters: Catherine Williams, of Saint John, and Elizabeth Reid (Paul), of Huntsville, Ontario; by three brothers, Barry (Patricia Maber), of Saint John; J. Paul (Dr. Michele Cyr), of St. Andrews-by-the-Sea, NB; and Michael, of Barrhead, Alberta; by her sister-in-law, Amelia (Tobias) Legere, an aunt, Berla (Burden) Noel; by 24 loving nieces and nephews: 38 grand-nieces and nephews and 5 great-grand-nieces and nephews and numerous cousins (all indebted to her for her unfailing prayers). Sweatman, according to Heywood President/CEO Daniel P. Moen. Jennifer D. Sweatman died in 1998 at the age of 25, following a four-year battle with melanoma. She was the daughter of Ross and Boneva Sweatman and grandniece of Jean Shapland and niece of Deborah Plotkin. She was a graduate of Fitchburg High School and received her bachelor?s degree from the University of Hartford and her master?s degree in physical therapy from Columbia University in New York City. Mrs. Bastarache was born in Fitchburg on February 11, 1924 a daughter of the late Albert and Eva (Leger) Gaudet and had resided in Westminster for thirty nine years. Mrs. Bastarache was the wife of the late J.P. Roger Bastarache who died in April 2005. She is survived by a son: Gary R. Bastarache of Athol, one daughter: Anne E. Bastarache of Westminster, three brothers: Roger Gaudet, Hector,Shorty, Gaudet, Norman Gaudet all of Fitchburg, two grandchildren; Crystal Stone and Craig Bastarache; and one great grandson, Tyler Stone. Mrs. Bastarache was the sister of the late Emile Gaudet and Bertha Martino. Mrs. Bastarache was formerly employed for 42 years at the former Fitchburg Yarn, she then worked at Burbank Hospital in Fitchburg retiring in 1987. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Fitchburg. Mr. and Mrs. Basatarache were avid square dancers. He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly (Caprera) McCarthy; his mother, Gloria L. McCarthy of Melrose; two sons, Brian M. McCarthy and his wife Kristin of Westbrook, ME and Navy Lt. Commander Gill Heinzkill-McCarthy and his wife Bernice of Alexandria, VA; three sisters, Maureen Labriola and her husband Christopher of Wakefield, Nancy Pappas and her husband Christo of Townsend and Sheilagh Senior and her husband Kevin of Wakefield; 3 brother's, Patrick J. McCarthy and his wife Josie of Washington State, Daniel B. McCarthy and his wife Valerie of St. Petersburg, FL and Barry A. McCarthy of Melrose; a beloved granddaughter, Logan R. McCarthy of South Portland, ME; eleven nieces and nephews, many relatives and close friends, his mother-in-law, Shirley Caprera of Worcester and a lifelong friend, Joseph Fay of North Conway, NH . He is predeceased by his brother, James R. McCarthy. Mike was born in Gardner, the son of the late, Eugene T. McCarthy and Gloria L. (Richard) McCarthy, moved to Melrose and later to Templeton and had lived in Sterling for seven years. Mike graduated from Melrose High School, Fitchburg State College, Mt. Wachusett Community College, USAF NCO Academy and Certificated in Project Management from Boston University. Mike served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1970, serving in the DMZ, South Korea, for two years. He later served in the Massachusetts Air National Guard from1984, retiring with honorable discharge in 2003. Simultaneously, Mike had a diverse 32 year career at Massachusetts Electric/National Grid retiring in 2004. Previously, Mike's employment included Manager, Friendly's, Police Officer of Templeton Police Department, Professional Ski Instructor at Wachusett Mountain, Coach Driver at Wilson Bus Lines, and most recently owned and managed Bead Fiesta Inc. Northeast Bead Shows, MacArts bead and jewelry design business and Bead Fiesta The Shoppe retail store in Sterling. Mike and his wife enjoyed a most diverse and athletic life together. They experienced Rock Climbing where they first met, world travel including mountaineering in South America, hiking to Machu Picchu in Peru, touring Europe and exhibiting with their glass bead art in Japan. Both Mike and his wife were ten year licensed private pilots and sampled skydiving. They also enjoyed hot air balloon chasing in Albuquerque, NM and Mike spent extensive time constructing a wood kayak for his great love of kayaking. Mike's other hobbies included glass bead making, running, hiking, skiing, biking, camping, reading, baking and wintering in Sarasota, FL. Unbeknownst to many friends, Mike was proficient in basket weaving, knitting and crochet in which he won best of show at Sterling Agricultural Fair. Mike was a member of the VFW, International Society of Glass Beadmakers and Boston Chapter of Glass Beadmakers. Mike loved spending time with family, friends, pet cat Macintosh and was known for a warm smile, great wit and was extremely social. His loving personality will long be remembered. | 2122 | Story On the 30th April 2013 Mary suffered a stroke whilst asleep, she passed away with her son and family by her side. She was 60. Although Mary was in Frimley Park hospital for general observation at the time she was strong, up-beat and look forward to being discharged and going back to work. The stroke was sudden and unexpected but Mary received immediate care and treatment from the staff in ward F9 and the Intensive Care Unit, although she did not regain conciousness her last remaining hours were comfortable and dignified and time was given for her family to arrive from as far away as Ireland and see her. Mary would not have wanted flowers at her funeral but she would have liked her friends and family to make a donation to Frimley Park Hospital's charitable trust. Over the last eight years she had been visiting the hospital on a regular basis, through initial visits to A&E, a few long stays in the wards and then regular check-ups with the out-patients clinic. She was one of the original residents of Harbourside Lodge. She entertained many people, and those who knew her often have a funny story or several; they could tell about Barb. Having a bit of a sweet tooth, she loved her chocolate bars (with No Nuts!), Jell-O, and ice cream. She is survived by her sister, Elaine (Wayne) Kehoe; brother, Kendall (Liz) Sweeney, Stewiacke; and several nieces and nephews. Evelyn (Rounds) Ferreira of Taunton and the late John Thomas Ferreira. She graduated from Bishop Cassidy High School in 1966 and Southern Massachusetts University in 1970. She taught English in the Freetown-Lakeville school system from 1970 until 2005, when she retired due to poor health. Rena enjoyed reading, theater and being with her family. For 20 summers, she was the general manager of the Silver City Children?s Theater, a group for aspiring performers from 6-17 years of age. Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband Philip, her daughter Andrea (Clark) Pope, her son-in-law Thomas, her grandson Sammy, as well as her daughter Kristin (Clark) Vaughan all of Taunton. She also leaves her brother John Thomas Ferreira, her sister-in-law Marie, and their son Brett, all of Berkley, in addition to many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Besides her parents, Terry was predeceased by her husband, Patrick "Paddy" Halley and her sons Phillip and Russell. Following high school, she attended the New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, where she received her Degree in Nursing in 1939. Prior to her retirement in 1979, she was employed as the Nursing Supervisor by the New England Baptist Hospital, where she worked for more than 20 years. Phyllis resided in Chelmsford and Santa Maria, CA until moving to Tewksbury in 1999. She is survived by her children, Diana Davis and her husband Galen of Scottsdale, AZ; Richard I. Moore of Walpole, Stephen P. Moore and his wife Susan of Rockland, Ronald E. Moore and his wife Mary of Braintree, and Robert A. Moore and his wife Donna of Tewksbury; her daughter-in-law, Dianne L. Moore of NH; her sister, Lorraine Ketchi of Natick; sixteen grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. Phyllis was the mother of the late Rodney B. Moore, and grandmother of the late Justin R. He did some trucking for various companies, travelling from Quebec to Newfoundland; and operated a herring roe plant. After more than five decades of working, he semi-retired from fishing, but remained active with his backhoes and dump truck. Philippe Mius d'Entremont arrived in Acadia with his wife and daughter about 1651, as adjutant to Governor Charles de Saint-Étienne de la Tour and commandant in the colony during the latter's absence. He received, jointly with Pierre Ferrand, by letters patent from La Tour dated 17 Jul 1653, the fief of Pobomcoup, at Cape Sable. in 1670, he became King's attorney. On 20 Jul 1684, in his capacity as attorney, he signed an order of the King that was registered at Port-Royal. He had since been obliged to carry out the duties of King's attorney for eighteen years, and had only left off because of his great age."? MIUS (Muis) D?ENTREMONT, PHILIPPE, esquire, first baron of Pobomcoup (Pubnico), near Cap de Sable, lieutenant-major, king?s attorney, settler, the first of the d?Entremonts of Nova Scotia; b. c. 1601 (or 1609) in Normandy (probably at Cherbourg); d. c. 1700 (or 1701). According to Placide Gaudet, the Norman Philippe Mius was related by marriage to the Bourbon family and was made Sieur d?Entremont by Louis XIV; but according to a descendant, H. Léandre d?Entremont, the titles of nobility are said to go back to the 11th century in Savoy, and a branch of the Savoy family is thought to have emigrated to Normandy during the 16th century. In 1649 the Sieur d?Entremont married Madeleine Hélie (or Élie) Du Tillet (b. 1626). He was then a captain in a regiment. It was in 1650 (Coll. de manuscrits relatifs à la Nouv.-France, II, 329) or 1651 (R. Le Blant) that he, with his wife and a daughter, were brought to Acadia by the new governor Charles de Saint-Étienne de La Tour, a childhood friend, as lieutenant-major and commander of the king?s troops. The feudal castle was built near the entry to the natural harbour of Pubnico, on the east side. D?Entremont played an important part in the colony?s history both because of what he did as an administrator and because he was one of the rare Acadian seigneurs to concern himself with cultivation and with clearing land; he attracted to his estate ?several indentured workers and a few families from Port-Royal [now Annapolis Royal, N.S.] and this seigneury eventually formed a small centre of population.? Besides their daughter whom they had brought from France, the d?Entremonts had four children who were born on Acadian soil: two of their sons, Jacques, b. 1659, and Abraham, de Plemazais (or Plemarch), b. 1661 or 1662, married respectively Anne and Marguerite, the daughters of Governor Charles de La Tour and Jeanne Motin; the third son, Philippe, whose life is more difficult to piece together, evidently married a daughter of Jean-Vincent d?Abbadie* de Saint-Castin. As for the daughters, Marie-Marguerite, born in France, married Pierre Melanson, dit La Verdure [see Charles Melanson]; the other, Madeleine, seems to have remained a spinster. Around 1670, at the time when the Treaty of Breda was being put into force, Governor Andigné de Grandfontaine was establishing himself at Pentagouet on the Penobscot. D?Entremont was named king?s attorney, an office which he held for 18 years despite his advanced age. We know of reports which were made by Mius d?Entremont and Jacques Bourgeois* on the subject of the Acadian frontiers, and sent to the minister, Pontchartrain, by Joseph Robinau de Villebon. Towards the end of his life d?Entremont left his seigneurial estate, bequeathing the title of baron to his eldest son Jacques, and went to settle at Port-Royal with his wife and two of his children. He died at the end of 1700 or the beginning of 1701, a venerable patriarch more than 90 years old. According to tradition it was at Port-Royal that he died, but Léandre d?Entremont indicates Grand-Pré, where d?Entremont may have gone to reside with his daughter Marie-Marguerite Melanson, as the more likely place of death. Philippe Mius d?Entremont has left a large number of descendants in Acadia; the barony of Pobomcoup remained in the family until the expulsion of the Acadians; and after more than three centuries some hundred families of the same name can still be counted at Pubnico. Born in Middle East Pubnico he was a son of the late Thomas and Agnes (Amiro) Amirault. He is survived by his wife Rosaline, Nakile Home for Special Care, Argyle, daughters; Gwen (Kevin) Grant, Oakfield, NS, Marlene (Bobby) Smith and Kathy (Gilles) Bourque, both of Middle East Pubnico. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by brothers; Coral and Joseph and sisters; Bernadette and Mae. After completion of high school, he went fishing with his father, worked on the railroad and as a bellhop. At the age of 19 he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Airforce and trained as an air gunner. He was stationed in England at the end of the war. Upon his return home he spent most of his life as a fisherman and along with his wife, they operated Gwen?s Diner in Middle East Pubnico. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 66, West Pubnico and the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 13th, 2019 from 7-9pm in the West Pubnico Funeral Home, Middle West Pubnico. | 2140 | The largest group of Blanchards who found refuge in Louisiana came from France at the behest of the Spanish government aboard four of the Seven Ships of 1785. They chose to go to upper Bayou Lafourche and settle in the district their kinsman had once commanded: Anne-Symphorose Hébert, age 47, widow of Joseph Blanchard, came to Louisiana aboard La Bergère, the second of the Seven Ships, which reached New Orleans in August. With her were six children, all born in France--Laurent-Olivier, age 19, Marie-Madeleine, age 17, Pierre-Joseph, age 15, Louis-Suliac, age 13, Élie, age 11, and Anne, age 7. Anne-Symphorose never remarried and died at Lafourche in September 1793, age 54. Her daughters married into the Bourg, Comeaux, and Trahan families. | 2141 | The name Esbon was spelled with a Z in Rhode Island, while generally spelled with an S in Nova Scotia. Ezbon Sanford was made a Freeman of Rhode Island, 1 May 1718; served as an Ensign of the Third Company of Militia from 1723-1725; was its Lieutenant in 1726, and Captain from 1730-1735. In 1735, Capt. Ezbon was employed by the town of Newport in building a bridge at the Point. Three years later, Mr. Ezbon Sanford was appointed by the Rhode Island General Assembly to be a member of a committee to procure materials and build a new Colony House at Newport. This committee was also to build a magazine at the fort, and procure a supply of powder and balls. Cat. Ezbon was frequently a member of the General Assembly from Newport, between 1736 and 1743. He made his will on the 6th of August and died on the 12th of the same month, 1743. From Find a Grave: Capt. Ezbon Sanford married Mary Woodward, daughter of Israel, Jr. and Bennet (Eddy) Woodward on the 27th of September 1716 in Newport, Rhode Island. They had 11 known children. Ezbon was a carpenter/builder and served as an Ensign/Lieutenant/Captain in the 3rd Company of Militia between 1723-1735. He is buried by his wife and father/mother-in-law. | 2143 | The Unbelievable Odyssey of the Barriaults (by James Carten, 1999, from the Acadian-Cajun Archives)Edited for this site by A. Côté 3 April 2008. The name Barriault has given place, since the arrival of the ancestor, Nicolas, in 1671, to many different [ortho]graphies: Barillaud, Barrios, Barillot, Bariault, Barriaux, Barilleaux, and even Bériau. All these variants return back to one forefather, Nicolas Barillot, born in France ca.1642 and married to Martine Hébert, daughter of Étienne Hébert and Marie Gaudet. Firstly settled in Port-Royal, he becomes, a few years later, one of the pioneers of Pisiguit, today Windsor, N.S. At the 1714 census, Nicolas Barillot is said to be a farmer and a landclearer, in the new parish of l'Assomption, at Pisiguit. A year before, the Treaty of Utrecht gave the Acadian Peninsula, as well as Newfoundland and the Hudson's Bay to England.[see note] The fact that Port-Royal, renamed Annapolis-Royal, became the capital of English Acadia, and since which is found strong English insurgence, surely incited Nicolas to settle further to the east, next to Pisiguit. Five years later, 1719, begins the construction of the fortress Louisbourg, at Cape Breton. Already many Acadian families are leaving to settle at the Ile-St. Jean (Prince Edward Island) and at Cape Breton, where they are assured to be in the presence of French troops. Nicolas, though, prefers to remain at Pisiguit, where he became, forcebly, a subject of the new King of England, Georges I, who had just been crowned. At the 1714 census, Nicolas Barillot has already ten children, of which four are sons; Antoine, b. 1697, Nicolas, b. 1703, Jacques, b. 1705, and Pierre, b. 1707. He had another son, Jean, the older, b. ca. 1685, but seems to be deceased at the moment of the census. He also had five daughters; Françoise, b. 1683, Marie, b. 1684, Catherine, b. 1687, Marguerite, b. 1689, and Madeleine, b. 1696. The descendants of his sons Antoine and Nicolas will settle in the region of St. Charles-de-Bellechasse, after the deportation. Those of Pierre will be principally in the Baie des Chaleurs in New Brunswick. Born at Pisiguit in 1707, Pierre Barillot, son of the forefather Nicolas, married in 1729 Véronique Girouard, daughter of Pierre Girouard and Marie Doiron, Véronique, who was born at St. Charles-des-Mines, was 17. Pierre was 22. They had baptized eight children at the church of l'Assomption-de-Pisiguit. Then, in 1750, doubting very much the eminent attack of the English, Pierre Barillot judged it prudent to transport his family to the Ile-St. Jean, remaining under the French administration. The family set up at the Rivière-du-Moulin-à-Scie where two other children were born. In August 1755 the storm broke loose in all of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. The Acadians are arrested, imprisoned, dispossessed then deported into the ports of New England: Boston, New London, New York, Philadelphia. They arrive by flows, sick and extenuated, to Maryland, to the Carolinas, Virginia and Georgia. The Iles Royale and St. Jean remained French, but in 1758, a second wave of deportation arose. The inhabitants are loaded aboard ships bound for England, where the prisons of Liverpool, London and Southampton awaited them. For Pierre Barillot and his wife Véronique, it turned out to be a tragic voyage, one that they would not see the end [of]. Both died while crossing the Atlantic. Their son, Olivier Barillot, then 19, will be imprisoned in England. After the Treaty of Paris in 1763, he returne[d] to France. His brother, Jean-Baptiste, forefather of the Barilleaux of Louisiana, took refuge in Cherbourg, then at St. Malo, along with his sisters Agathe, Thérèse and Euphrosine. Olivier hurried to rejoin them. They settled in the parish of Pleudihan, in Brittany, where they were still yet in 1772. Their uncle, Nicolas Barillot, brother of Pierre, had just died before the 1755 Deportation, at Port-Toulouse, Ile Madame, Cap-Breton. Their uncle Antoine Barillot took refuge in Québec. He was at St. Antoine-de-Bellechasse, in 1758. Finally their uncle Jacques Barillot had less luck. He was deported to England in 1758. He was at La Rochelle, in France, in 1761/62. A few years later, we will find him in French Guyana in South America. But, getting back to Olivier Barillot, son of Pierre, refugee at Pleudihan, Brittany, with his brother, Jean-Baptiste and his sisters. It is in the Breton village that he will marry, ca. 1763, an unfortunate companion of exile, Anastasie Boudrot, daughter of Jean Boudrot and of Agathe Thibodeau. Two years later, after the birth of a daughter, Anne-Marie, in 1765, Anastasie Boudrot will pass away. Three years later, the (10th of May 1768) 10-05-1768, this time at St. Servan-de-St. Malo, Olivier Barillot marries, a second time, another exiled Acadian, Élisabeth Landry, daughter of Pierre Landry and of Anne Thériot, of the Rivière-aux-Canards. A first child, Charles-Olivier Barillot, will be born to this second union, the (22nd of March 1771) 22-03-1771. Another son, Jean-Baptiste, will see the light of day two years later. In the spring of 1774, Olivier, his wife and their three children decide to re-locate. They are among thirty Acadians who were aboard two goëlettes (schooners) of Charles Robin and his brothers from Jersey, who recruited fishermen and workers for their fishing settlements and commerce in Gaspé. In some geneology sites Nicolas Barillot (dit Bayol) is said to be the son of Nicolas Bayol and Barbe Bajolet and the brother of Rose Bayol. You might get a hit for Nicolas Barillot dit Bayol. Bayol is a variation of Bajolet. For some reason tha variations are extended to include Barillot but the Barillot name was already well established in France at the time. ( Nicolas Bayol b. 1605). Marie-Barbe Bajolet (b. 1608) was the daughter of one Antoine Bajolet or Bailolet (Bayol) who worked as a muleteer for Marie de Medici. Some sites list Nicholas Bayol as being married to Barbe Bajolet but the latter was married three times and in all cases to men of some power and wealth. Her marriages were well documented and so was the birth of all of her children. The Isaac Pesseley (her first husband) family was connected to the Baiolet - Bajolet. family. Barbe Bajolet's godparents were Pesseleys. All we know of Nicholas Bayol is that he sailed to Acadia on the St-Jehan with Marie-Barbe Bajolet's first husband Isaac Pesseley, in 1636. It is more likely that Nicholas Bayol was also a Baiolet -Bajolet, possibly a brother or a relative of Marie-Barbe Bajolet but certainly not her husband. We know that Bayol returned to France to collect his 9 year old daughter Rose in 1638. (Marie-Barbe Bayol, Rose Bayon). Marie-Barbe Bajolet married Isaac Pesseley in 1629, and was pregnant with her first child with Pesseley the very year of Rose Bayon's birth. In any event Bayol returned to Acadia with Rose and we never hear from him again. It is a certainty that both Bayol and Pesseley's widow were both in Port Royal in the year prior to Nicholas Barriault's Birth in France. Pesseley was killed in 1645. In 1646, Bajolet returned to France and married Martin Lefebvre. (1647). (Lefebvre died in 1648) The only remote possibility of Bajolet and Bayol being Barriault's mother is if she had been impregated by Bayol in Acadia just prior to her return to France but that is speculation. Nicholas Barillot dit Bayol a bastard son of Nicholas Bayol and Barbe Bajolet? Then why the name Barillot? Was the unwanted child raised by a Barillot family in France? Nicolas Bayol and Isaac Pesseley knew each other having sailed together as crew on the St-Jehan. Pesseley's wife Bajolet had not sailed with them on that voyage. Bayol would have known the Pesseley Bajolet couple quite well. It is more likely, once again, that Nicholas Bayol, given the similarity in name was more likely a relative of the Bajolets. Marie Barbe Bajolet married a third time in 1654. With her third husband and the children of her two preceding marriages, Barbe Bajolet returned to Acadia. Her family settled on a fief which was conceded to them by Charles de la Tour. A few years later, widowed again, thrice-widowed Barbe asked a vessel from Boston to give passage for her and her family to Port-Royal. It would be soon after that her daughter Marie Pesseley would marry Jean Pitre. There is no mention of a connection to Rose Bayol who we know to be Nicholas Bayol's daughter. So any connection to Nicholas becomes more and more distant. DNA testing has hinted that Rose Bayol was from Afro-Asian extraction. Was Nicholas Bayol black? Was he, in fact, a slave or a servant who simply carried the Bayol name as many other slaves carried the names of the families they served? It would explain the lack of interest on Marie-Barbe Bajolet's part in Rose Bayol who also lived in Port Royal. Nicholas Barillot was born in 1646 and arrived at Port Royal on the Oranger in 1671. Nicholas Bayol was most likely already dead by then. His daughter Rose Bayol had been married to Pierre Comeau since 1649. She spent a lot of time traveling with her husband and son to various bases in the states. She enjoyed meeting people from different states and making new friends. Her favorite pastime was reading books by conservative authors and she had a large collection of historical and non-fiction books. She was an avid fan of LSU baseball. She loved spending time with her family and spoiling her great grandchildren. She loved animals and always owned a dog and cat. She liked to feed the birds and squirrels.
