Newfield, Jr. of Mandeville, La. Also survived by nieces and nephews, Paul C. Newfield, III, Bonnie Burke, Michael Newfield, Mary Caroline Garland, Elizabeth Kaleida, Mary Catherine Corrigan, Martin Francis, and a host of cousins. Age 84 years, he was born January 5, 1921 in New Orleans, La. and baptized at Sacred Heart Church (on St. Bernard Avenue) in New Orleans. A resident of Thibodaux, La. On December 22, 1945, Fr. John Lyle Newfield was ordained a Roman Catholic priest by New Orleans Archbishop Joseph Francis Rummel. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, November 18, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral, 500 Goode St., Houma, La., with interment at St. Francis de Sales #1 Cemetery, Houma, La.
