    • Obituary of Eugene Frederick Fitch
      Eugene ?Gene? Fitch, 81 of Greenwood Square, NS passed away March 22, 2016. He was the son of Fred and Olive (Balcom) Fitch

      He is survived by his tirelessly devoted wife, Ruth Toole Ogilvie Fitch, son, Brian (Joyce) Fitch, Greenwood Square, NS, daughter, Sue, Old Barns, NS, stepson, Merrill Ogilvie Jr (Judy) Morden, NS, stepdaughter Jane (Wendell) Rafuse, Auburn, NS, sisters, Hilda Morrison, Wilmot, NS and Thelma Wright, Calgary, AB, sister-in-law Margaret (Eric) Gould, Deerlake, NF and brother-in-law, Arthur Collins, also many very special nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his best friend Molly.

      Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife Beatrice (Collins) Fitch, sister, Doris Fuller, brother-in-law, Eddie Morrison and stepson, Robby Ogilvie.

      He left home at 15 to pursue a career in the military, serving in the Army and RCAF as well as a tour in the Middle East on a UN peacekeeping mission. After retirement from the military he had a second career as a tanker driver with Farmer?s Dairy. He retired to the home farm in 1991.

      His family would like to pay special thanks to Dr. Yafai and VON homecare without whose help Gene would not have been able to stay in his home as long as he did. We would also like to thank Dr. McClure and all the staff of the Valley Regional Hospital for their tremendous support and care in Gene?s final days.

      Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Berwick Funeral Chapel, 192 Commercial Street Berwick (902-538-9900) A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 30th at 2:00 pm in the Berwick Funeral Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to Annapolis Valley VON Homecare and the Kingston NS branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.
