- AnnaBelle Millman Mosbach was born on April 6, 1921 to Benjamin and Florence (Gray) Millman in Flandreau, SD. She attended elementary school at Dailey Rural School and graduated from Flandreau High School in 1938. AnnaBelle got her teaching degree from Iowa State Teacher College (UNI) in the spring of 1940. She began teaching elementary school in the Lake Township and taught several years at Greenville, Iowa. AnnaBelle married Emmett Mosbach in Spencer, Iowa on July 3, 1944. They began their married life together in Ruthven, Iowa. In 1946, they moved to Laurens, Iowa where they began the Laurens Dairy and Creamery. Many of AnnaBelle's fondest memories were wrapping butter at the Creamery and working at the Drive-In with many of the local teenagers, who she adored. She also worked for Dr. Sunner and Dr. Roberts at the local optometric clinic. After retirement, she enjoyed volunteering and was involved in teaching CCD classes at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She also spent many hours visiting with her friends at the Nursing Home and helping at Congregate Meals. AnnaBelle also was greeter at the Smith/ Loterbour/Powers Funeral Home for many years. She was honored as the Outstanding Senior Citizen of Pocahontas County in 1995. She also was an avid bowler and on her 70th birthday bowled a 600 series. AnnaBelle's hobbies included knitting, reading, baking, (most memorable being her "big chocolate chip cookies"), walking, and spending time with her beloved family. Grandma AnnaBelle was a patient, soft-spoken, "classy lady" who was loved by many. AnnaBelle entered her eternal home on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the age of 89. Those left to treasure her memory are her children: Dick and wife Beth, of Colorado Springs, CO; Jody Smith, Scotland, SD, Tom and wife LuAnn, of Chariton, IA; 9 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Her two brothers, Bill and Tom, also survive her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett; her parents, Ben and Florence Millman; her sister, Margaret; her brother, Grayson; and her grandson-in-law, Scott Mechtenberg.
