    PIKE, ANN PENTLAND Jan. 16, 1933 to Sept. 14, 2010 Ann Pentland Pike, 77, died peacefully at home in Chula Vista, September 14, 2010, from pancreatic cancer. Born in Buffalo, NY, daughter of Marium and Lewis Pentland, Ann grew up in Wallingford, CT, where she was an All-New England Field Hockey player and synchronized swimmer. Ann attended Bradford Junior College and Columbia School of Nursing. She enjoyed cooking, skiing, tennis, golf, gardening, nature, traveling, and reading. Ann was a people person and took the time to talk to everyone she came in contact with. Ann was always there for others. Ann served as President of the Holden Women's Club, President of the Worcester Music Guild, Vice President of the Women's Republican Club of Chula Vista, and as a Eucharistic Visitor for Church of the Good Shepherd. She was a scout leader for her children, sang in a choir and served as a Candy Stripe Coordinator. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert Pike, their children, Robert and Terri Pike, James and Kelly Pike, Melissa Pike, John and Jean Pike , five grandchildren, brother Richard Pentland of Massachusetts and his wife Jean, her childhood friend. A Memorial service celebrating Ann's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on October 1st, Friday, at Church of the Good Shepherd, Bonita, CA. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the, or San Diego Hospice.

    Notes:

    elissa Ann Pike, 51, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 4, 2011 at the home of her brother and sister-in-law in Hubbardston after a long bout with pancreatic cancer.

    Melissa is survived by her son, Matthew Pike of Worcester; her father, Robert Pike of CA; three brothers, Rob Pike and his wife Terri of CA, Jim Pike and his wife Kelly of OH and John Pike and his wife Jean of Hubbardston; nephews and nieces and her faithful canine companion, Rocky. She was born in Meriden, CT, the daughter of the late Ann (Pentland) Pike and lived much of her life in the Worcester area.

    She received a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from the SUNY-Brockport and a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College. She worked in the early child care business and was most recently the Director of the Elm Park Center for Early Childhood Education. She also worked at UMass Memorial and the Red Cross. She was an avid and expert scrabble player who founded the Worcester Scrabble Club. Melissa was a loving and caring mother, daughter, sister and a compassionate friend.

    A memorial service for Melissa will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 8th in All Saints Church, 10 Irving Street, Worcester. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Matthew J. Pike Educational Fund, C/O TD Bank, 295 Park Ave., Worcester, MA 01609. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
