  Harris - The name is Welchand and means " son of Henry or Harry" Thomas Harris b. in Wales. He came with his brother William and also Roger Williams in the Ship "Lyon" as early as 1630 from England to Lynn, Mass. As a friend of Roger Williams, he was imprisioned and otherwise ill treated in Boston in 1658. He married Elizabeth. Elizabeth married 2nd Deacon William Stillson. Thomas and William kept the ferry at Chelsea. In 1680, Deacon Stillson testified that Thomas Harris kept the Ferry from Charlestown to Winnisinet (now Chelsea) 49 years before; and that he married Harris' widow and continued the Ferry. It is the oldest Ferry in the United States. Children: probably all born in Wales. 1. Anna b. abt 1613 Wales 2. Anthony 3. Daniel 4. John 5. Thomas Jr. b. abt 1618 6. William Anna , born abt 1613. She was admitted to the Church July 8, 1639. Married Elias Maverick and died 7 September 1697, aged 84 years. Her Gravestone is in the Reading Cemetery.
