Mr. Benoit was born September 21, 1923 in Little Chenier. During his working career, he worked at Cameron Construction, Warren Construction, Zapata Protein, and retired as a road foreman for Cameron Parish Police Jury. He was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Cameron. His hobbies included gardening and cooking, which he passed on to his grandson Gabriel with great pleasure. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Marie Marant Jones Benoit, daughter, Carol Ann and infant son, Gilmer Joseph, three grandchildren, Jaylon Coleman, and Taylor and Tira Rodriguez; 4 brothers and 5 sisters. Those left to cherish and honor his memory are his wife of 64 years, Ella Rose Bertrand Benoit, Big Lake; three sons, Phillip Benoit, Cameron, Michael Benoit, Scott, and Jeffrey Benoit, Grand Lake; eight daughters, Cynthia B. Theriot, Sulphur, Brenda Daigle, Sulphur, Patricia Benoit, Lake Charles, Jo Ann Conner and husband Butch, Grand Chenier, Frances Benoit, Lake Charles, Nena LeBlanc and husband Marty, Lake Charles, Tena Benoit, Grand Lake and Bernadette Benoit, Big Lake; 25 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren and his beloved four legged friend, Kitty. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM Monday December 13, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Home with a Rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Tuesday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Cameron with a Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM.
