Poppe, 87, of Brick passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, with her family by her side. She was born in Lakewood, NJ, and lived in Virginia from 1987 to 2003, when she returned to Brick, NJ. Doris was a member of Brick Presbyterian Church, a Charter Member of the Community First Aid Ladies Auxiliary, and a former member of Breton Woods Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Doris was pre-deceased in 2005 by her husband, Frederick; she is also pre-deceased by her three brothers, James, Carl, and Richard Matthews, and her sister, Lorena Poppe. Doris is survived by her three sons, Ross Poppe of Nathalie, VA, Tommy Poppe of Pelzer, SC, Frederick Poppe Jr. of Brick; two daughters, Pauline and her husband Jesse Kilhefner of Newburgh, ME, and Wilma Poppe of Brick; she is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and, one great- great grandchild. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Weatherhead Young Funeral Home, 885 Mantoloking Road, Brick, NJ 08723, from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, 10:30 am at Brick Presbyterian Church, Brick, NJ, followed by an interment at Kettle Creek Cemetery, Brick, NJ.
