    • OBITUARY
      May 10, 1935- September 5, 2020

Edna (Atkinson) Hilts, age 85, formerly of Braintree and Walpole, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 5th, 2020, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was the wife of the late Frank P. Hilts. Edna was the sister of the late John Atkinson, and the daughter of the late John and Hilda Atkinson. She was the loving mother of Russell Hilts and his wife Tricia of Walpole, Cindy Sullivan of Walpole, and Laurie Hayes and her husband Dan of Norfolk. She was the adoring "Grammy" to Alex, Dennis, Kasi, Sean, Suzanne, and Jamie.

Some of Edna's interests included reading, walking, and visiting friends, but above all, her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. Amongst many other wonderful memories, a favorite she will always be known for were her infamous "Grammy cookies."

Edna showed amazing grace in her fight against Alzheimer's disease. The smile never left her face, even in challenging times. Edna exuded love to everyone she came in contact with. There wasn't a soul who met her and didn't feel like a better person for having known her. Her smile and unwavering cheerfulness were infectious, and anyone who had the pleasure of being in her presence walked away with a feeling of positivity and a sense that "everything was going to be okay." Simply stated she was the definition of all that is good in this world.

Her incredible caregivers were drawn to her positive spirit. She was so lucky to have had the support of the staff at Cornerstone at Canton and The Thomas Upham house in Medfield. She was truly blessed to have had the care provided by Marva, Donna, and most of all, Nicole.

Visiting hours will be held Monday morning , September 14th from 10-12PM at the Alexander F. Thomas & Sons Funeral Home, 45 Common Street, Walpole, MA. Friends and relatives invited. The funeral services will be private. Please wear a mask and respect social distancing.
