Obituary of Archibald "Archie" Babcock
Archie Babcock, of Mann's Mountain, passed away peacefully, at the Campbellton Regional Hospital, on August 14, 2018, at the age of 89.
Born in Campbellton on August 11, 1929, he was the oldest son of Merritt Babcock and Alice Lawlor, of Matapedia, QC.
A graduate of the Maritime Forest Ranger School, Fredericton, class of '56, he was a scaler for the NBIP Company in Dalhousie, then for Rothesay Paper in Saint John.
Archie was a talented musician who played the Scottish bagpipes for fifty years at countless celebrations throughout the area. He will be remembered for his quick wit and great sense of humour.
Archie was a longtime member of the Caledonian Society of Restigouche, the Royal Canadian Legion, the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, as well as Campbellton Lodge #32.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Georgina Adams; their two daughters, Christina (Ben Meraw) of Hamilton, ON and Megan (Brian Cohen) of Dieppe, NB; three grandchildren, Piper, Saige, and Asher Cohen; three sisters, Reva Campbell, Ora Babcock, Maureen Forgeron; sister-in-law Betty Babcock; as well as numerous neices, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Peggy and Dot, and two brothers, Frank and Michael.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St Anthony's church in Glen Levit, on August 18 at 11 AM, followed by burial in the Dawsonville Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Maher?s Funeral Home, 33 Lansdowne St., Campbellton, Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
Donations to St Anthony's Church, Heart & Stroke Foundation, or Dawsonville Cemetery would be appreciated.
