      Obituary of Harry Ellsworth Hiltz

      Hiltz, Harry Ellsworth ?left the loving arms of his children on Tuesday February 18, 2014 at Valley Regional Hospital , Kentville, to be with his beloved wife of 41 years Annie M. Maskell. Harry was born in New Minas to the late Percy and Florence Mabel ( Dodge) Hiltz on April 27, 1932. Harry started work young helping his father as a barrel cooper, then worked for a couple of years at a lumber camp near Enfield. From there he bought his first boat at age 18,. He fished from Halls Harbour, where he meet his wife Annie and married on April 5, 1958. They started their family and moved to Grosses Coques in 1964 to lobster fish and ground fish for over 35 years. In the off seasons, he went to sea on the gypsum carriers. In 1979 he began working with LaForet Acadienne doing Silva Culture and survey work before retiring to spend more time with his wife, Annie. He enjoyed his gardening , greenhouse and numerous tinkering projects. He enjoyed nature , playing his fiddle, and mandolin. Harry also loved his family, friends and neighbours. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren, always wanting to teach, share knowledge and experiences. Many stories were told over tea and crumpets. Harry spent the last couple of years at the Grandview Manor, Winslow Unit in Berwick. Harry and Annie were very proud of their family, sons Gregory (Debbie Muise) , Percy (Patsy Gavel) , Daren (Shelley Johnstone); daughters, Carol Ann (Mike) Gaudet, Donna Hiltz- LeBlanc (Allain) ; brother Oran Bobby (Elsie) Hiltz, brother in law Carl Sanford; sisters Dorothy (Roy) Peterson, Laura ( Roy Buddy) Misner; grandchildren Alicia Hiltz, Jillian Hiltz (Tim Holland), Cody Hiltz and Kelcey Hiltz; great grandchildren Finn and Piper Holland many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Annie, 2 infant sisters, sister Phyllis Sanford and brother Shirley Hiltz. Visitation 2-4pm and 7-9pm, Saturday February 22nd, from Jayne?s Funeral Home, #5114 Hwy #1, Weymouth. Funeral service will be 3pm on Saturday March 1st, from Church of Christ, Weymouth. Pastor Charles Bain presiding. Interment in Bethel Cemetery, Weymouth. Family flowers only. Donations in memory can be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
