(Griffin) O?Grady, 89
FRANKLIN - Margaret Mary (Griffin) O?Grady, 89, formerly of Franklin, died May 27, 2013 in the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Worcester. She was the wife of the late Thomas L. O?Grady.
Born in Charlestown, May 25, 1924, the daughter of the late William and Veronica (Tobin) Griffin, Mrs. O?Grady was raised in Charlestown and Medfield and had lived in Franklin since 1945. Mrs. O?Grady was a graduate of Medfield High School. She received her nursing education while in the Navy. An LPN, she had worked at the former Pondville Hospital in Norfolk for many years and following that had worked at the Pond Home in Wrentham. Mrs. O?Grady was always helping her neighbors and friends with her nursing skills.
She had been the past president of FISH, a member of the Franklin Red Cross, the Catholic Women?s? Club and had been an active member of St. Mary?s Church. She enjoyed traveling, attending events at the Senior Center and entertaining at her home. Mrs. O?Grady served in the Navy during World War II, attaining the rank of Hospital Apprentice 2nd class.
She is survived by her children, Thomas O?Grady, Jr. of Hudson, New Hampshire, Maureen Hippert of Leicester and John O?Grady of Rochester. She was the sister of the late Bill Griffin, Vera O?Grady, Helen Woods and Marie Bowles. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, May 30 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St., Franklin at 11:15 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary?s Church at noon. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 6-8.
