"The LaFayette Sun" - July 19, 1905:
Hinkle Reunion.
On the 8th day of July, at the home of Mr. R. Hinkle and daughter, Miss Maggie, 5 miles southwest of LaFayette, the children, grandchildren, with other relatives and friends, met in reunion and spent a most enjoyable day, all the little children carrying presents for their grandfather.
The children present were: W. R. Hinkle and two daughters, of Milltown, Joe Beall, children and one grandchild, M. L. Campbell, wife and three children, of Waverly, John Hinkle, wife and five children, Alonzo Ousley, wife and one child, Lewis Hinkle wife and three children, Chas. Hinkle, wife and one child. (Dave Yates, wife and eight children being absent).
At 11:30 dinner was announced. It was spread under beautiful shades near the house and was very much enjoyed.
In the afternoon Mr. Joe Beall entertained with his violin. He is one among the very best fiddlers, having won many prizes at fiddler?s conventions in Opelika.
After the music, delightful refreshments were served, and at 5 p.m. the different families departed to their several homes after a day of enjoyment at the old homestead.

"The LaFayette Sun" - June 16, 1915:
Death of Mr. Riley Hinkle.
Mr. Riley Hinkle died at his residence near Antioch Baptist Church last Thursday, after a brief illness. He was one of the oldest citizens of the county; if he had lived until the 29th day of the coming November he would have been 80 years of age. Surviving him are four sons; William, John and Lewis, living in Chambers County, and Charles, who lives in Tennessee; four daughters, Mrs. Dave Yates, Mrs. M. L. Campbell, Mrs. Lon Owsley and Maggie Hinkle, all living in the county. These sons and daughters were all present at the funeral of their aged father. Mr. Hinkle left forty-three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, besides a large number of relatives and friends. He had been a member of the Antioch Baptist Church since early manhood and was a man of fine Christian character. The funeral services were held in the church on Friday afternoon in presence of a large congregation, and were conducted by Rev. A. C. Yeargan, the pastor. After beautiful and appropriate remarks by Pastor Yeargan, a brief funeral service was delivered by Dr. W. C. Bledsoe, who was for many years the pastor and intimate friend of the deceased. Thus has passed away one of our oldest citizens, a man who had lived a quiet, home life, devoting himself to his family and doing his best to meet the daily problems which came before him. He was a faithful Confederate soldier in the 60s, being a member of Capt. Faulkner's company in the 8th Confederate cavalry.
