    • Obituary for Jane Anna Yuenkel (Flammang)
      Jane Anna Yuenkel, 84, of Kenosha, passed away Thursday, February 28th, 2008, at United Hospital System-Kenosha Campus.
      Born in Kenosha on June 13, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John and Celena (Richards) Flammang. She was a lifelong resident of Kenosha and was educated in local schools, graduating from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1941.
      She was in the United States Navy during World War II, serving from November of 1944 until March of 1946. On July 6, 1946, she married her childhood sweetheart, Edward Yuenkel, in Kenosha. Jane was a wife, mother and homemaker until their last child went to school. She went to work at Jane Vernon School in the lunch program for many years.
      She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a former member of the Altar Society of St. Mary's. Jane enjoyed her Bridge Club and playing different card games including, Pinochle and Cribbage. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, gardening, reading, camping, fishing and the outdoors. She spent many summers up north at the cottage.
      Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Edward; seven children, Jim (Patti) Yuenkel, Barbara Niles, Bill (Charlotte) Yuenkel, Nancy Yuenkel, Tom (Gladys) Yuenkel, John (Eleanor) Yuenkel, and Richard (Mary) Yuenkel; thirteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
      She was preceded in death by six sisters and a brother, Marion Wruck, Lorraine Flammang, Leslie "Bud" Flammang, Eloise (Karabetsos) O'Connor, Dorothy Kavalauskas, Beatrice Klein and Mildred Schultz.
      Jane was a wise and gentle woman. She always had a kind word for everyone. She was loved by all she touched and will be dearly missed.
      Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 3rd, from Proko Funeral Home at 9:20 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Green Ridge Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held on Sunday at Proko Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
