She married Acadian Joseph Landry in 1775, they had twelve children. After his death married Thomas Sparr (Parr).
She was the daughter of Acadians Paul Melancon (1730-1771) and Marie Theriot (1736-1787).
Her paternal grandparents were Acadians Jean Baptiste Melancon and Madeleine Leblanc.

Her maternal grandparents were Acadians Germain Theriot and Marguerite Boudreaux.

Parents Paul and Marie of Grand Pre, Acadia, were deported to Snow Hill in Maryland aboard the sloop Elizabeth in 1755 during "The Great Expulsion" by the British.
The 1763 Maryland census shows the family living at Snow Hill in Worcester County. They emigrated to Louisiana in 1766 arriving through New Orleans.
Paul died in 1771. Widowed Marie married Amand Prejean in 1773.
Marie, husband Joseph and parents Paul and Marie's names are written on the "Wall Of Names" at The Acadian Memorial Museum in St. Martinville, Louisiana.
