Notes - SAULNIER, Philomene - 80, Saulnierville Station, passed away June 9, 2006, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Saulnierville, she was a daughter of the late Adolphe and Elizabeth (LeBlanc) Melanson. Philomene was well-known for her generosity in many different organizations and helped many people along her way. She was an executive member of the Clare Unit Canadian Cancer Society for many years, mostly services to patients, and was chosen volunteer of the year for the municipality of Clare. She was also the recipient of the Silver & Gold pins, and was very dedicated to the Lodge that Gives. Philomene was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Clare Branch No. 52, a member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary which she was very proud of. She was a volunteer at our local radio station CIFA; devoted member of the Clare Seniors Club and a member of Sacred Heart Church, Saulnierville. Surviving are her husband, Charles; brothers, Henri (Ruth) Melanson, Saulnierville; Elie (Shirley) Melanson, Saulnierville; Theodore (Jacqueline) Melanson, Saulnierville; Alphonse (Elaine) Melanson, Meteghan River; sisters, Louise (Daniel) Comeau, Saulnierville; Blanche (Desire) Comeau, Meteghan River; Lydie (Thomas) Saulnier, Saulnierville; Antoinette (Eddie) Theriault, Little Brook; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son, Thomas. Visitation was held Sunday in Meteghan Funeral Home. Funeral service 11 a.m. today in Sacred Heart Church, Saulnierville, where a Legion service will follow, Rev. Edgar Mvubu officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
