    • Obituary of Donald Douglas Dahlgren
      Donald Douglas Dahlgren, passed peacefully in the Digby General Hospital surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at the age of 83. Born January 10, 1936 of Weymouth, Digby County, he was the son of the late Charles and Norma (Gidney) Dahlgren of Weymouth, NS.

      Donald retired after 30 years as a manager of NSLC, he was a member of the Tuscan Masonic Lodge for 56 years, Royal Canadian Legion Member since 1968. He also volunteered as a driver for the Transport de Clare.

      He was very well loved by many family and friends, and will be sadly missed by us all, including his beloved companion Chloe.

      Donald is survived by his brother Bucky (Medora) Dahlgren of Church Point; his five children: son Stan (Marie Donahue) Dahlgren of P.E.I.; daughters Ginny (Terry Oakley) Hatt of Chester Basin, NS; Veronica (Edward Deveau) Dahlgren of Church Point, NS; Candace Blinn of Digby, NS; Tanya (Denny Melanson) Stuart of Saint Alphonse, NS; Lisa and Robert Melanson of Ashmore, NS although not his blood, but loved just the same. Donald was also blessed with 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren who loved him dearly.

      Besides his parents, Donald was predeceased by his loving wife Joan Comeau; brothers Charles in infancy, Stan of British Columbia, John of Kingston, NS; sister Adelaide Gaudett of New Tusket, NS.

      A Service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the St. Peter & St. Thomas Anglican Church in Weymouth North. There will be a reception to follow at the Weymouth Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Digby County Funeral Chapel, 367 Highway #303, Digby, B0V 1A0 (902-245-2444).
