GARDNER ? Theresa E. (Robichaud) Cormier, 88, of 47 Lake Street, Gardner died peacefully Monday, June 11, 2012 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, surrounded by her family following a long illness.
Theresa was born in Gardner on February 26, 1924, the daughter of the late Eleodore and Osithe (Leger) Robichaud.
She graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1942. Theresa was employed by J.C. Penney in Gardner as a merchandiser for 20 years, retiring in 1986. Following her retirement she worked at the Bridal Boutique. In her earlier years, she was employed by Thayer Manufacturing Company and Kuniholm Manufacturing.
Theresa was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Gardner. She was also a member of the A.A.R.P., the Daughters of Isabella and Club Social Franco Americain.
She enjoyed playing cards, golfing, traveling, walking, and watching ?The Oprah Winfrey Show? and ?The Ellen Show? on television. Theresa was an avid sports fan who enjoyed baseball, the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. She enjoyed going out to dinner and going to Kimball Farm in Jaffrey, NH. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Theresa leaves her husband of 65 years, Clarence J. Cormier of Gardner; three sons, Richard C. Cormier and his wife Claudia of Reston, VA, Phillip Cormier and his wife Julie of Bangor, Maine and Alan Cormier and his wife Roberta of Norwood, MA; three daughters, Denise Joseph and her husband Charles of E. Falmouth, MA, Celeste Drake and her husband Jay of Gardner and Michelle DeMaio and her husband James of Mason, NH; eleven grandchildren, Jason Goguen, Taryn Burns, Elliott and Oliver Drake, Alana, Beau, Chloe, Cassie, William, Isabel and Ross Cormier; four great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Tyler Goguen and Emerson and Marleaux Burns; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by one sister, Lorraine Girouard and two step-brothers, Ovila and Herve LeBlanc.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 15th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in MA Veterans Memorial Cemeter, 111 GlenAllen Road, Winchendon.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Thursday, June 14th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
