Notes - "Francois had a most interesting and full life, He died at the age of 80 according to the book by Rita Lippe on 10 Apr 1924 in St. Basile, M.T. However should remember this was the location of the only church in those early days and he would have been registered there for his funeral. We can probably assume he actually died in Van Buren, Maine and not in Canada. Francois married 3 times ( The Descendants of Francois Violet by Rita Lippe, copyrighted 1984 ) A curiosity about Francois. During his lifetie he maintained the name VIOLET while every one of his children were baptized VIOLETTE. This is unusual in view of the fact his name would have been changed by clergy somewhere along the way. The change of name is rather important in its origin. In France the name Violet which has evolved into Viollet stands for the color. Mr Fernand Videau, Mayor Emeritus of Fontenille who completed great research in the Violet/Viollet names in Fontenille provided a complete list of names and dates of birth stated the name Violet came from an ancient people who wore Violet clothing. Probably due to the production of wine as it required stomping on the grapes in the early days. In America, the name Violette stands for the flower. So we have both. Let's keep them. "
