    • JAMES AKIN, b. Kilmalcolm, Scotland, 1773, came to R. 1796, after staying in New York one year, and bought land covered with woods except a small clearing. Original owner was Matthew Park. He m. March 9,1801, Margaret, dau. Alexander Miller. She d. in R. Sept. 11. 1829. After living in Ryegate 59 years he removed to Greensborough in 1854 and d. May 1, 1862; bur. West cemetery.
