Kilmalcolm, Scotland, 1773, came to R. 1796, after staying in New York one year, and bought land covered with woods except a small clearing. Original owner was Mathew Park. He m. March 9, 1801, Margaret, dau. Alexander Miller. She d. in R. Sept. 11, 1829. After living in Ryegate 59 years he removed to Greensborough in 1854 and d. May 1, 1862; bur. West Cemetery." There is a discrepancy in that the 'History of Ryegate' says the date of death was May 1, but the stone says May 11. JAMES AKIN, b.
