- Virginia (Grady) Manning, 87, of Gales Ferry, CT wife of the late John ?Jack? J. Manning Jr. died Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at home after a long illness surrounded by her family.
Born in Uxbridge, MA she was the daughter to the late Edward and Martina (Walsh) Grady and lived in Gales Ferry since 1983.
She attended local schools in Uxbridge, MA and earned her B.A. in Education from Framingham State Teacher?s College in 1951.
Ginny was Director of Training with American Airlines for 18 years up until her retirement in 1971.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann Marie Burke of Elk Grove, CA; step-son, John J. Manning and his wife, Natalie, of Middletown, RI and step-daughter, Margaret Manning and her husband, Brian Julian, of Crisfield, MD; her sisters, Martina Parauda of Edison, NJ., Sheila Grady and Maureen Trettel both of Uxbridge, MA; brother, Robert Grady of Mashpee, MA; a grandson, Jack Manning and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, James P. Burke and four brothers, Edward L. Grady Jr., and William, Richard and John Grady.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, April 9 from 5-8 PM at the Mystic Funeral Home located on Route 1 in Mystic.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, April 10, at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Gales Ferry where she was a faithful communicant, a member of the church Guild and the ?Workshop Ladies? lovingly known as, ?Stitch and B__.? She was also an active member of the Tuesday morning women?s golfing group at Cedar Ridge, as well as a local bowling league.
Her burial will be held in St. Columba Cemetery, in Middletown, RI at the convenience of the family.
