- Cherished husband of Marie "Rose" (Comeau), died peacefully on September 9, 2018, surrounded by family at age 85. Born June 11, 1933, to John Joseph and Gertrude Mary (Anderson) Napier, Paul grew up in Halifax and Purcells Cove. He attended St. Mary's High School and St. Mary's University, which he successfully represented as national junior doubles tennis champion. He enrolled in the Nova Scotia Technical College and obtained his P.Eng in Mechanical Engineering in 1955. A few years later he met Rosie Comeau from Comeauville, Digby Co. In 1962, they married. Paul will be missed by Rose and their children: Margaret Napier (Ken Booth), Andrew (Candyce Crawford), Paul (Lisa Ross), Daniel (Karen née Ayoung Chee), and Jennifer; grandchildren, Amy, Ben, Ian, Emily, Colleen, Ryan, Isabel, Michael, and Alec; and his younger brother, Murray (Halina). Paul is now reunited with his parents and four of his siblings: Ken, Jack, Bob, and Mary. Paul lived for many years with his family in Queensland, working the woodland property he loved and cooling off in the beautiful waters of St. Margarets Bay. In his final years, he received the most loving care from the wonderful staff of Shoreham Village. The family extends heartfelt thanks for their kindness. The family also wishes to recognize the warmth and concern shown for Paul over these years by the residents of St. Margarets Bay. A mass celebrating Paul's life will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 15th in St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, 10243 Highway 3 in Hubbards, with a reception to follow. Memorial donations can be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or Shoreham Village in Chester. I will hold my house in the high wood, Within a walk of the sea; And the men that were boys When I was a boy, Shall sit and drink with me. ~ Hilaire Belloc
