- HOLIDAY, Fla. -- Emile J. Gaudet, 81, of 3824 Elmwood Drive, formerly of 75 Milk St., Fitchburg, died Sunday, May 13, at the Community Hospital, New Port Richey, Fla. after a brief illness.
Mr. Gaudet was born in Fitchburg on June 6, 1925, a son of Albert and Eva (Leger) Gaudet, and resided many years in Fitchburg before moving to Florida 17 years ago.
He worked 20 years as a machinist at the former American Can Company in Fitchburg, retiring in 1988. Prior to that he worked for the ITT Wire Company in Clinton.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph?s Church in Fitchburg and St. Ignatius Church in Tarpon Springs, Fla. He had been a member of the Franco American Club in Fitchburg and for many years and square danced with the ?Two Hearts as One? dance club in Gardner as well as the ?Montachusett Twirlers? in Leominster.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Antoinette ?Toni? (Denomme) Gaudet; four sons, Robert E. Gaudet, Gerard A. Gaudet and Steven A. Gaudet, all of Fitchburg, and Ronald R. Gaudet of Templeton; three brothers, Hector ?Shorty? Gaudet, Norman Gaudet and Roger Gaudet, all of Fitchburg; and a sister, Stella Bastarache of Westminster. He leaves four grandchildren, Bryan Gaudet, Shawn Clapper, Ronald Clapper and Melissa McCully; and four great-grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Bertha Martino of Winter Park, Fla.
GAUDET -- A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph?s Church, 49 Woodland St., Fitchburg. Burial will be in St. Joseph?s Cemetery.
