    age of 83.Cherished husband of Sheila (McCarthy) Halley of Kitchener, formerly of Topsail,
    Newfoundland . Loving father of Linda Courtney and her husband Desmond of Goderich, Donna Wills

    HALLEY, SHEILA Mary (nee McCarthy):
    Beloved wife of the late John Halley (January 20, 2003) whom she married October 4, 1949. Loving mother of Linda (Des) Courtney, Donna (Mark) Wills and John (Maryna) Halley. Much loved Nanny of Sheila, Leo, Desmond, Kevin, Kathleen, Leah, Lauren, Stefanie, John Joseph Halley III and great-grandmother of Linda, Nicholas, Felix, William and Maeve. She is survived by her sister Mary Clark, brother-in-law George Banaska, and sister-in-law Karin McCarthy.
    Predeceased by her parents, Judge John McCarthy and Gertrude McCarthy, brothers, John Jr. (WWII), Kevin and William, and sisters, Eileen, Gertrude and Barbara, an infant son as well as a large extended family.
    Sheila was a longtime member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church and the CWL of the Church. She was employed at the Royal Bank in St. John?s NFLD for many years.
    Sheila?s family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. with parish prayers at 8 p.m. Prayers will be offered in the Funeral Home on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 9:20 a.m. followed by a procession to St. Teresa's Roman Catholic Church, 44 Leonard St., Kitchener for Sheila?s Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. celebrated by Fr. Tom Moisan. Reception to follow at the church. A private family interment will be held at Woodland Cemetery.
    As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Teresa's R.C. Church, the War Amps Champ Program or Lisaard House would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).

    January 17, 1879 (Friday) Married At Portugal Cove, on Sunday last, by the Very Rev.
    Archdeacon O'CONNOR, P.P., V.G., Mr. EDWARD BRINE, of Topsail, to MARY, eldest
    daughter of Mr. THOMAS Stapleton, of Horse Cove.
    Children Jon T, Mary Peter , Peter J and Leonard died in infancy.
    Edward was killed by being kicked by his a horse. He was only 44 years old, and he left Mary
    his wife with a large family of 6 including my grandmother and her twin brother Andrew who
    were only four months old at the time of his death.
    Story in the Evening Telegram and Newfoundland Hearld in 1895. This was recently
    printed (Aug. 15, 2008) in the Shoreline local Newspaper of CBS. Artilce was entered by a
    Mr. Howard Brown.

    Mary was buried on a Sunday and there were mounds of snow on this February 5, l947, She was 93
    years old.
    A Horse and Carriage from St. John came into Topsail and took her to the graveyard. People walked
    behind the horse and carriage to the graveyard. House still stands and is occupied by a young
    family , son of Jimmy Philip's second wife. Jimmy was married to Jean O'Brien, daughter of Jean
    and Andrew O'Brien, Mary's son, who occupied the house until their passing.
