Donald Henry Rosebrook Sr. Donald Henry Rosebrook Sr. passed away on Saturday October 12, 2013 surrounded by his family. Born in Bend, Oregon in 1939 to Edith Mae and Robert Rosebrook, Don spent most of his early life in Silver Lake, OR. He met Mary Murphy of Lakeview, OR and they wed in 1959 at St Patrick's Church. For a short time Don attended college in Fort Collins, Colorado but eventually returned to Lakeview where he began his 17 year career with Safeway. Working in stores from Klamath Falls, Ashland and Myrtle Point, Don eventually opened the North Stephens Street store in Roseburg, OR in 1974. They had four children; Debbie, Shelly, Donny, and Susan. Don and family moved to Arcata in 1977 to join his brother-in-law, Pat Murphy, in Murphy's Markets where he owned and operated Westwood Market for many years. He was known as a generous business owner often letting those in need charge groceries until they could afford to pay. He loved to hunt, fish, and rock hunt in and around his beloved ranch in Lakeview. He enjoyed taking the grandkids, Shane, Casey, Cole, Mae, Brook, Grace and Jake up to the ranch where they irrigated the land, fed the sheep and rode four wheelers. Many longtime family friends and memories were made there, especially at Round Up time. His handsome smile and great sense of humor were a joy to all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bobby Rosebrook, and daughter Shelly Goodrich. He is survived by his brother Melvin Rosebrook of Bend, OR, his wife of 53 years Mary, and children; Debra Rosebrook and gentlemen friend Doug Davis of McKinleyville, Don Rosebrook Jr and wife Jennifer of McKinleyville, Susan Reeser and husband Bryan of McKinleyville. As per Don's request no services will be held and in lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to your favorite charity.
