Fabien Richard was the son of Edmond Richard and Caroline Courville. Fabien's birth record shows him with his mother's maiden name of Courville with only his mother's name mentioned.
    "COURVILLE, Fabien (Caroline) b. 27 March 1875 (VP Ch.: v. 2, p. 203)"

It appears this is because his parents weren't wed until 8 February 1886.(Eunice Ch.:v.2, p.57)(Opel.Ct.Hse.: Mar.#13974). His sister Marie Pauline was also entered as a Courville, while other siblings born before 1886 were entered as if the parents were married.

Fabien wed Alix Doguet on 21 Feb. 1898.(Eunice Ch.: v.2, p.324) It is this record that provides both parents names.

Fabian died 3 November 1965 at Moosa Memorial Hospital in Eunice following an illness of two weeks. His obituary (Opelousas's "Daily World" 4 Nov. 1965, p.8 and
"Lake Charles American-Press" 4 Nov. 1965, p.2) lists his survivor's as his widow, the former Alice Dogas; three sons: Clancey, Enos and Joe Richard, all of Basile; five daughters, Mrs. Victoria Richard, Mrs. Alexie Bellon, Mrs. Israel Fruge, and Mrs. Evy Vidrine, all of Basile, and Mrs. Aten Fruge of Oberlin; 40 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
